Skimmer Kit 1″

The 1″ skimmer kit has been requested by many so here it is.  The original purpose of the skimmer was not to skim, but to serve as an emergency overflow when running the 110v pumps at night in case of a bait jam that would cause the tank to overflow.  That’s why we automatically install a skimmer whenever we install 110v pumps into our tanks.  Now, with that said, the skimmer will pull surface grim off the top of the water.  However, this is a very slow process and has proven that it will NOT remove 100% of surface grim, but it will help.

When installing, you need a 1″ core bit.  You will see a small “tick” mark in the center of the water line that we put on the demising wall (the wall that separates the bait area from the filter compartment).  This line is 2″-3″ below the top of the top of the tank.  This mark is on tanks 3 years or newer.  If your tank does not have this water line, you can measure 3″ down from the top of the cap and place hole center of the wall.
